Description

This 100% hemp yarn offers the ultimate in strength with the drape and lustre that is unique to hemp and colourfastness that is outstanding.  Hemp does not fade and lose its colour as some other natural plant fibres can.  Your garment will stay looking great for years and years to come.

The double knitting / 8 ply weight means this is a fantastic choice for wearing all year round – cool in summer and warm in winter.   The creator of this yarn, Lana Hames, has also designed a stunning range of knitting patterns which are available under the Patterns and Kits section.

Knitting Weight: 8 Ply / Double Knitting
Skein Weight: 100 grams (3 ½ ounces)

Knitting Gauge:   Approximate gauges for 10 centimetres / 4 inches in stocking stitch shown below.

Specific gauges are also shown on the specially designed Hemp for Knitting Patterns available under the Patterns and Kits section.

22 stitches and 30 rows on 3.75 mm (US 5) needles

20 stitches and 28 rows on 4.00 mm (US 6) needles

18 stitches and 24 rows on 5.00 mm (US 8) needles

16 stitches and 20 rows on 6.00 mm (US 10) needles

Care:     Hand or machine wash – lay flat to dry or tumble dry until slightly damp, lay flat to dry.

Hemp will soften by regular washing and drying.  It will not shrink, stretch, fade or pill, and will only get softer after each wash.  If you find the Allhemp yarns stiff to work with, soak the 100% hemp hank in hot water and hair conditioner, air dry and wind into a ball.  Personally, I very much enjoyed the texture of the yarn to knit with without soaking or washing before knitting.
